Off-Road Legend Rod Hall named 2011 Griffin King of the Hammers Grand Marshall

Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Legend Rod Hall to Wave the Green Flag at the 5th Running of the Griffin King of the Hammers
A man well known for 4-wheel drive and off-road travel, Rod Hall will add Grand Marshal of the Mixed Martial Arts of Off-Road Races known as King of the Hammers to his list of accomplishments on February 11th, 2011. No stranger to the intense competition of off-road racing, Rod Hall began his racing career in 1964. He is a 21 time Baja 1000 class winner and has competed in every single Baja 1000 Off-Road race for a total of 43 starts in the iconic Baja peninsula race.
The Griffin King of the Hammers has made it a prerequisite for its grand marshals to be famous for the use of 4 wheel drive, and Rod Hall may be the most famous 4 wheel drive racer ever, as the only person to ever win the Baja 1000 overall in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. In addition, Rod Hall has the longest unbroken string of wins at 35, and was a member of the first All American Team to finish the Dakar Rally.
Rod Hall will host the Volunteer Dinner and Raffle, attend the KOH drivers’ meeting, and wave the green flag bright and early Friday morning when 100 4-wheel drive endurance racers, known as Ultra4 racers, attempt to win the title of King of the Hammers on a grueling 120 mile course through the toughest terrain known to man.   The course will be a two lap race on a 60 mile course of rock, sand, open desert and seemingly impossible hill climbs. Those that wish to attend will be directed to safe spectator areas within the Johnson Valley OHV area, and are encouraged to please review the spectator rules and information available on the Ultra4racing.com website.
