Scherer Wins Nitto Triple Crown of Off Road

CRANDON, WI – SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2018: The 2018 Nitto King of The Hamers, Jason Scherer became the first annual Nitto Triple Crown of Off-Road winner this past weekend at Crandon International Speedway. The Nitto Triple Crown of Off-Road was announced the beginning of this year and involved ULTRA4 drivers competing in the 3 the largest off-road races in the United States: The Nitto King of The Hammers Powered by Optima Batteries in February, Best in The Desert’s BFGoodrch 50th Mint 400, and the 49th Annual World Champiionship Off Road Race in Crandon. Points for the triple crown were done in a motos style format, and assigned one point for their finishing position at each race. The driver with the least points after 3 rounds was declared the winner.  As Scherer finished 1st at KOH, 4th at the Mint, and 1st in Crandon, he received a total of 6 points, placing him a full 6 points ahead of fellow ULTRA4 Driver, Loren Healy in 2nd, and Paul Horschel 13 points behind in 3rd place. Horschel, Healy and Scherer were close throughout the entire competition. Horschel won pole at The Hammers, but suffered a rollover taking him out of contention for the win there. Then came back with a win at the Mint, and on Friday night’s race in Crandon was fast on Scherer’s heels, particularly in the woods section. Healy was consistent with podiums a both the Mint and Crandon and a top 10 finish at KOH this year.  Casey Currie also finished 3rd in Crandon and 2nd at The Mint, but unfortunately had vehicle troubles at KOH this year. Full points for those that competed in last weekend’s event are available below. The final race in the ULTRA4 series in the 4 Wheel Parts Nitto National Championship event held in Reno, NV October 19th and 20th this year. Triple Crown Points
