August 30th, 2015: Fallon, NV – ULTRA4 Racing joined forces with Nevada’s long time desert race organization, Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) for the annual Fallon 250. The event was the 3rd and final race in the ULTRA4 Trail-Gear Western Regional Series.  With more than 120 teams on site for the race, the limited classes along with VORRA’s desert race classes ran a morning race of 250 miles that began for some classes as early as 6AM.  The unlimited 4400s known as the ULTRA4s competed in a separate 250 mile race that began at 4PM and went until midnight.
Starting orders for all classes were determined by their existing points in the Trail-Gear Western Regional Series.  This put last year’s National Champion, Loren Healy on the pole with his back-to-back wins at 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix and MetalCloak Stampede.  Healy set what appears to be a new track record of 41 minutes on his first lap.  The course was a 41 mile single track loop through the desert. Passing sections were tricky with dangerous rocks hiding just off the edges of the course.

For the first several laps, Healy lead the field in physical first with Paul Horschel not far behind him.  Midway through the race, Wayland Campbell took over the lead with Horschel on his heels and Healy in 3rd. Campbell maintained the lead for two laps, and it looked as though for the first time since Healy had debuted his new car, that Healy might not take the checkered flag at a regional race. However, on the 5th lap, it was Healy back in the lead again with Horschel in 2nd and W. Campbell in 3rd. Healy was able to maintain his lead in the final lap and was the first car across for the checkered.
In the limited classes, Shawn Rants took home first place for the second time this season in the 4500 class followed by Mike Bedwell in 2nd and Jordan Townsend in 3rd. Matthew Peterson also  took home his 2nd win of the season in the 4600 class followed by Sean McNamara in 2nd and  Ben Varozza in 3rd.  In the Legends class, it was newcomer Anthony Arreola in the 4861 who won the legends class followed by Rick Waterbury and Sean Leonardini in 3rd.  The UTVs also took on all 250 laps, and in the Pro class Raul Gomez took 1st with his son as his co-driver, and Gomez was the only car to complete all 6 laps. In the Sportsman class, Logan Goodall completed all laps in 1st and Brian Hogue finished 2nd.
Currently, Healy is leading the Trail-Gear Western Regional Series.  For a full list of Fallon 250 results please click here.  For a full list of points standings, please click here.
