EVENT REGISTRATION & INFO

Where is King of the Hammers event located?

King of the Hammers is located just off Highway 247 (AKA: Old Woman Springs Road) in Johnson Valley, CA. From the highway, turn onto Boone Road and follow the gravel road to our Welcome Tent located on Barnes Road inside “The Forty” fenced property. From here, after you check in, you’ll proceed through the Welcome Gate and onto the dry lakebed towards “Hammertown.”

Do I need to wait until I arrive at the lakebed to go through tech?

We have tech locations across the country for full and pre-tech before you arrive on the lakebed to help your road to hammers be less stressful.

How do I receive the racecourse map?

​Course files are released to registered competitors when pre-running opens, at the PCI Race Radios booth in Hammertown.

Does anyone other than the driver of record need to register for the race?

Only the Driver of Record needs to register. The co-driver does not need to register, although the co-driver does need a USAC Competition License.

How are car numbers assigned?

If you have not raced with us or have not confirmed a race number with us in the past 12 months for KOH or Ultra4 USA, follow these steps to obtain a number (you must have your number to register):

  • Email your name, class and phone number and three to five number selections (0-9999), in order of preference to CarNumbers@KingoftheHammers.com.
  • Please allow 48 hours for assignment.
  • If you are a current competitor with us and have not let your number go inactive for more than 12 months, your number does not need to be reconfirmed.

What wristbands and passes are included with the KOH/Desert/170 Kids Race?

  • 1 Competitor Wristband for Driver of Record
  • 1 “Race” Hammertown Vehicle Pass  (Sticker only, not a parking spot. Must park inside your purchased Hammertown camp or garage. No street side parking.)
  • 3 Hammertown Vehicle Passes  (Windshield sticker only, not a parking spot. Must park inside your purchased Hammertown camp or garage. No street side parking.)
  • 1 Camper Pass (Windshield sticker only, not a location)
  • Tech Inspection

Are there any discounts on bulk VIP wristband purchases for vendors, partners, or racers?

Yes! Our standard procedure for discounts on VIP WRISTBANDS is to offer a discount on bulk purchases by one person/company in excess of ten VIP WRISTBANDS.

So, the first ten VIP WRISTBANDS would be priced at retail, then any additional VIP WRISTBANDS would be discounted 20%. Once the ten VIP WRISTBANDS are purchased, you may contact accounting@kingofthehammers.com so they can confirm the purchase then provide you with a discount code to purchase the additional VIP WRISTBANDS at the discounted price.

GARAGE INFO

How do I reserve a garage (location you park your camper, trailer, race car on, and "live" out of during KOH)?

  • During the November each year, currently registered “driver of record” racers who had a racer garage inside Hammertown the previous year, will receive an email with instructions on how to confirm and pay for the same or similar racer garage that they had the previous year.
  • During the Fall each year, for currently registered “driver of record” racers who did not have a racer garage inside Hammertown the previous year but would like to be added to the waitlist for consideration if garages open up, submit this form
  • If you are assigned a garage, you will be contacted via email.

What happens if I can't get a garage spot inside Hammertown?

There are many racers that do not stay inside Hammertown. It is not a requirement to stay in Hammertown. Camping spots and tents can be coordinated anywhere on or near the lakebed.

If I purchased a KOH racer garage in Hammertown when can I move in? When do I have to move out?

  • Move-in date is anytime after Monday, January 26, 2026, 12PM. Strictly enforced due to KOM racers using some of the garages Jan 22-26, 2026.
  • Move out date is any day/time from Saturday, Jan 31, 2026 through Sunday, February 8, 2026 with everyone and all personal property needing to be off the lakebed by midnight between Feb 11 and Feb 12 as the military will take over the lakebed for training at 12:01am on Feb12, 2026. HKP and the public will not have access once the military takes over the lakebed.

FIRST TIMERS

I heard about the "first times on us" Ultra4 fee-waiver program. I haven't raced KOH or an Ultra4 race before, am I eligible?

As of 2024, the “first times on us” Ultra4 USA offer is no longer a valid offer for Ultra4 USA or King of the Hammers.

I'm a new competitor, where do I start?

RENTALS & VENDORS

Is WiFi available for purchase on the lakebed?

Wi-Fi is not included with purchase of garage or camp. We strongly encourage anyone needing to stay connected for text, calls, emails, social etc. to either bring their own Starlink system or visit the following links for Wi-Fi equipment purchase options directly through our KOH partners.

Is there an ice vendor at KOH?

Yes, Roque Moreira with Rocky Mountain Ice will be returning as our ice vendor.

Roque is now taking pre-orders to better serve you. In addition to pre-orders, they will be onsite at their Hammertown vendor booth selling ice.
